July 9th and 10th, 2022

The weekend of July 9th welcomes the second Open Campus for MWU of the academic year. Roughly 350 people of high school students and their guardians attended the University open day on the Saturday.

The university Open Campus day is to welcome high school students to the campus to give an insight to the available facilities for student learning.

At MWU, the day events are held simultaneously across three of its campuses. The main campus being in the center of it all, while introductory day is held for prospect Pharmaceutical students at Hamakoshien campus. Students who seek details on studying in the Department of Architecture will attend the one held at Kamikoshien campus.

July 6th, 2022.

A joint briefing session for students and parents held to study abroad at MUSC for the first time in 3 years.

In preparation for studying abroad for students of Department of English, a briefing session was held at Koe Memorial Auditorium on June 25th. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic that prevented students from studying at the Mukogawa Women’s University’s U.S campus in Spokane, the current third year students are yet to experience studying at the U.S campus.

At the briefing, the Vice President at MUSC, Mr. Nakahara attended, followed by the Faculty of English and others in charge of travel arrangements and agencies. More than 200 people, including students and their guardians, were present to hear about the program, the dormitory life, meals, precautions and such much needed information prior to the travels.

The large screen projected images of local buildings and the scenery of the city they’ll be staying in, the students seemed to lighten up with excitement at the prospect of finally being able to step a foot on to the campus in the U.S.

July 4th, 2022

Ms. Kawada, a third year student of Department of Education, presented with Excellence Award for her work on overseas travel plan.

The honor obtained by Ms. Kawada was for her ideas on planning for overseas travels. The contest entitled “Overseas Travel Planning Project with students and Travel Agencies” hosted by Kansai International Airport. The award giving ceremony was held at KIX Observation Hall on June 25th in association with JATA (Japan Association of Travel Agents).

JATA Kansai Branch and Kansai Airport Co., Ltd. are soliciting unique overseas travel plans from students. The aim of this contest is not just to compete for travel plans, but to foster travel ideas and products with experts from that field based on the plans submitted. Outstanding projects from among the applicants can be an experience like no other for the students and schools taking part.

As a part of ongoing project since last year, the topic of “international education” has been the focus in a class led by Professor Imamura. The class consisted of preparing for trips abroad, where Ms. Kawada’s work came to attention. Ms. Kawada, who applied for the contest under the guidance of her teacher, were selected as one of the 7 finalists out of the 43 groups to enroll the contest for her travel plan entitled “Let’s deliver miso soup to the people of Indonesia!”.

For the finalist of the contest, a travel agency is paired to support and assist in planning, and for Ms. Kawada, H.I.S. Co., Ltd. is in charge of working alongside her.

Ms. Kawada, who dreams of becoming a kindergarten teacher, says “although it was challenging at times, I was able to find joy in making plans for oversea travels associated with international studies.” Professor Imamura added “I hope through projects like these we are able to nurture and promote to cultivate teachers that can have a wider, more globalized perspective of the world and pass that on to the next generation.”

June 18th, 2022

The first Open Campus day of the fiscal year was held on Saturday, June 18th.

The university Open Campus day is to welcome high school students to the campus to give an insight to the available facilities for student learning.

As the very first open day of the year, the total of visitors reached up to 1,700 people. Held at 3 venues: Hama Kosihen Campus – for Department of Pharmacy, Kamikoshien Campus – Department of Architecture, with the main campus as the central venue of the day.

The dance club welcomed visitors at the opening ceremony with their grand performance at the Koe Memorial Auditorium. The Open Campus day offered the visitors with campus tour that run at scheduled times followed by introductory seminars that were held by various faculties.

The Tanrei Training Center reopened its doors after 3 years of absence.

The school trips to the extended Tanrei campus had been put on hold for the last couple of years due to Covid-19 pandemic. However, it is now open for business for students, faculties and members of staff to occupy the space for a full day of workshops and such.

The Tanrei training center is known for its spacious camp style grounds with facilities that offer overstay excursions for students studying at Mukogawa Women’s University. The training program that offers the students to stay over for one night and spend two days at the venue is back running for the first time in 2 years as of April 21st.




June 7th, 2022

A welcome gathering for the foreign exchange students.

In the afternoon of May 27th, a welcome gathering for the foreign exchange students was organized by the International Center.

As of this April, 3 students from Hannam University in Korea joined as members of the Mukogawa Women’s University. Years previous to this, the foreign exchanges were only present online due to the pandemic, making this academic year the first time in two years to welcome them.

A grand total of 32 students from 24 departments at university and junior colleges took part in the get-together. It started off with an introductory presentation by the foreign exchange students on themes of their choice and then each foreign exchange student were placed in a group that were divided into 3 groups to discuss and chat freely.

The students who participated in this event left looking content and pleased with the overall experience.
