Students from the joint seminar of the Faculty of Education, the Faculty of Letters, and the Faculty of Food Sciences and Nutrition, which is working to support a children's cafeteria in Amagasaki, participated in the 52nd Amagasaki Community Festival on October 1st.

The joint seminar has been supporting the running of the children's cafeteria "Mokomoko Club" in Motohama-cho, Amagasaki City since 2018, offering a "Delicious Kanji Class" combining kanji characters and food to children visiting the cafeteria. At this year's ' Festival, activities at the children's cafeteria were introduced at the "Student Plaza," which was set up alongside the "Kodomo Hiroba," and the "Delicious Kanji Class" was reenacted. Approximately 100 sets of parents and children participated in the event and enjoyed a kanji quiz and coloring pictures related to food.

In addition, an original map created by covering spice curry shops in the local Amagasaki city was distributed to the children to encourage their interest in diverse cultures. The map also included a recipe for curry, which was created by the students and is popular at the children's cafeteria, and participants picked it up one after another.

Associate Professor Minako Yoshii of the Department of Education, who is leading the event, said, "I hope events like these will help people come to realize that there are people and children with diverse roots."
