Ms. Matsuri Arai of MWU’s Faculty of Sport Sciences and Health, won a silver medal with high diving at the World Cup Tokyo Tournament.
飛び込みの東京オリンピック最終予選とテスト大会を兼ねたワールドカップ東京大会で、健康・スポーツ科学部健康・スポーツ科学科３年の荒井祭里さん（JSS宝塚）が5日、女子高飛び込み決勝に挑み、342・00点を挙げて2位に入りました。ワールドカップでの日本選手のメダル獲得は15年ぶりです。
荒井さんは2019年の世界選手権で9位に入り、すでにオリンピック出場が決定しています。１年の延期でさらに成長し、オリンピックでのメダル獲得に期待がかかります。今回のワールドカップ東京大会では、板橋美波さんと挑んだ女子シンクロ高飛び込みで7位でしたが、こちらも五輪出場が期待されています。
荒井祭里さんのコメント
「メダルを獲得することが目標だったので目標を達成することができて本当に嬉しいです。
結果は良かったですが修正する部分はまだまだ沢山あります。今回の経験を活かしてオリンピックで良い結果を出せるように、またオリンピックに向けて練習に励みたいと思います。応援を宜しくお願い致します」
On May 5th, Ms. Arai, a 3rd year student of MWU scored 342 points in high diving event and was awarded with a 2nd place. It’s the first time in 15 years for a Japanese high diver to receive a medal. Back in 2019, she was placed 9th in the World Championship. Even with the delay of the event due to the pandemic, she has shown growth and getting a medal was highly anticipated.
Ms. Arai stated “it was my goal to get a medal so I’m extremely happy to have gotten it.” She also added “Even though the results were good this time round, there are still some areas I need to work on. I hope that from this experience I can move forward and do just as well in the Olympics. Thank you for all the support in advance.”
