＜日本語/English＞生活環境学科で日本の伝統工芸や伝統技術の魅力と新企画を発表する模擬展示発表会を開催しました。

生活環境学科で「被服学総合演習Ⅰ」を受講している2年生がこのほど、日本の伝統工芸や伝統技術の魅力について、新企画を発表する模擬展示発表会を開催しました。

この授業は、日本の繊維・アパレル産業について過去を知り、現在を学び、未来を考える演習です。学生たちは繊維が関連する日本の伝統工芸や技術、地域の特産品について各自でテーマを設定。手法だけでなく作り手の想いと魅力にも着目し、より多くの人に魅力を伝えるための新しい企画を考えました。

発表は展示会形式で実施。学生間での情報共有や意見交換、当日参加した教員にも紹介と提案を説明し質問にも答えながら、自分達が感じた伝統工芸や技術の魅力と新しい試みについてアピールしました。

演習では、奈良の地場産業である蚊帳の素材など、日本の伝統美と精神性を継承する商品を販売し、余り布のアップサイクルにも取り組んでいる「井上企画・幡」の代表取締役・林田千華氏が講演。展示発表会では、林田氏から学生へ助言もありました。

学生からは「自分が知らないだけで魅力ある伝統工芸品が多く存在することを知った」「敷居の高いもの、高級品、昔のものというイメージを持っていたが、実際に知ることで伝統工芸や技術などの可能性の高さに気づいた」「今回の展示発表の中には実際に欲しいなと思う物もいくつかあったので、今の時代に合わせた加工を施すと現代にも十分通じるものだということが分かった」などの声が聞かれ、日本の伝統工芸や技術の魅力とこれからの日本の強みに気づく機会になりました。

 

A mock exhibition presentation was held at the Department of Human Environmental Sciences to showcase the appeal of Japanese traditional crafts.

 

Second-year students taking "Comprehensive Exercise in Clothing Science I" in the Department of Life and Environment recently held a mock exhibition presentation in which they presented new projects on the appeal of traditional Japanese crafts and traditional techniques.

 

This class is an exercise to learn about the past and the present, and think about the future of the Japanese textile and apparel industry. Students set their own themes on traditional Japanese crafts, techniques, and regional specialties related to textiles. Focusing not only on the techniques but also on the thoughts and appeal of the makers, they came up with new plans to convey the appeal of the products to a wider audience.

 

Presentations were given in the form of an exhibition. Students shared information and exchanged opinions with each other, explained their introductions and proposals to the faculty members who attended the event and answered their questions, while appealing to them about the appeal of traditional crafts and techniques they felt and the new attempts they were making.

 

Students commented, "I learned that there are numerous traditional crafts that I was unaware of," "I had an image of them being expensive, luxurious, or old-fashioned, but now that I actually learned about them, I learned the appeal of traditional crafts and techniques," "There were several items in the exhibition that I would actually like to have, and I realized that if they are processed in accordance with the current era, they can be used in the modern age. I thought that some of the items presented in the exhibition are things that I would actually like to have, and I think that if they are processed in accordance with the current era, they can be used in the modern age as well.”
