社会情報学科の福井哲夫教授が9月11日、トロント大学でコンピュータ＆数理科学学部(Computer and Mathematical Sciences)の学生に「Math-TOUCHプロジェクト：マルチモーダル数式入力ユーザインタフェースと数学eラーニングのための学習支援環境」と題し、セミナー講演をしました。
福井教授は情報工学のユーザインタフェースを研究しています。2023年から大阪大学の白井詩沙香講師と名古屋大学の中村泰之教授とともに、「数学eラーニングのためのマルチモーダルな数式入力UIの研究と学習支援環境の構築」の研究プロジェクトを代表者としてスタート。研究に協力するKang教授（トロント大学）、Pollanen教授（トレント大学）と数学学習環境に関するミーティングを行うため、9月10日から12日まで両大学に訪問しました。
訪問中に「Math-TOUCH」開発の話が学生の今後の勉強や研究に役立つと考えたKang教授から依頼があり、セミナー講演を開くことになりました。講演にはトロント大学の約10人の学生と数人の教授が聴講。講演では「Math-TOUCH」の使い方や課題点、今後の予定などを説明しました。学生たちは「√（ルート）や統計学に使うような複雑な式でも使えますか」などの質問をしたり、数式入力にAIが使われていることに驚いていたりと、福井教授たちの取り組みに興味を引かれていました。
また、ミーティングではこれから共同研究を行う予定の数学チャットシステムについて一緒に検討を行った結果、今後も研究に協力することが決定しました。

The students were intrigued by the efforts of Prof. Fukui and his team, asking questions such as "Can we use Math-TOUCH for complicated formulas such as √ (root) and those used in statistics?"
During the meeting, they also discussed together a mathematical chat system that they plan to collaborate on in the future, and it was decided that they would continue to cooperate in research.
