「オールド化するニュータウン」をテーマに生活環境学部の三好庸隆教授が川西市で講演しました。

生活環境学部長の三好庸隆教授が5月17日、兵庫県川西市からの要請で、市職員を対象に「オールド化するニュータウンをどう考える？－その現況と今後の展望」と題し、講演しました。

三好教授は昨年末に『オールドニュータウンを活かす！―理想都市の系譜から多様な暮らし方の実現へ』(大阪大学出版会)を出版。団地の老朽化や空き家の増加が社会問題となる中、「オールドニュータウンを活かす」という発想が地方自治体やまちづくり団体等の間で話題を呼んでいます。

 

川西市には、高度経済成長期に造られたニュータウンが多くあり、人口の約4割が居住しています。そのニュータウンの幾つかがオールド化の兆しを示しており、対策として、市を挙げた新たな取り組みが検討されており、今回の講演につながりました。

 

On May 17th, Professor Tsunetaka Miyoshi, Dean of the School of Human Environmental Sciences, gave a lecture to city officials at the request of Kawanishi City, Hyogo Prefecture, entitled ‘Make Good Use of Old New Town! For the Realization of Diverse Lifestyles from the Genealogy of Ideal City’.

 

At the end of last year, Prof Miyoshi published ‘Make Good Use of Old New Town! For the Realization of Diverse Lifestyles from the Genealogy of Ideal City’ (Osaka University Press). With the ageing of apartment blocks and the increase in vacant houses becoming a social problem, the idea of ‘utilizing Old New Town’ has become a topic of conversation among local authorities, town planning groups and others.

 

Kawanishi City has many new towns built during the period of high economic growth, where about 40% of the population live. Several of these new towns are showing signs of becoming Old Towns, and as a countermeasure, new city-wide initiatives are being considered, which led to this lecture.
