昭和初期の匠の技を「見える化」する「武庫川女子大学建築学部デザインギャラリー」が開設しました。

甲子園会館の竣工当時の瓦やタイル、学生たちが制作した原寸図や原寸模型等を展示する「武庫川女子大学建築学部デザインギャラリー」が開設しました。上甲子園キャンパスの正門に向かい合う民家（鉄筋コンクリート2階建て）を改修して展示スペースを設けています。

 

甲子園会館では2022年から屋根を葺き替える大規模修復を進めており、瓦や棟飾りをいったんすべて地上に降ろし、強度などを確認しながら適宜、新しいものと入れ替えています。竣工当時の記録が乏しいことから、今回の大規模改修は詳細を確かめ、匠の技を次世代に受け継ぐ貴重な機会。建築学科の学生たちは発泡スチロール材で棟飾りの原寸大の模型を作成したり、原寸図を描いたりしながらその意匠を学び、記録しました。

 

デザインギャラリーでは竣工当時の瓦やタイルをはじめ、学生たちが作った甲子園会館のタイル、瓦の鋳型、石膏型、模型、原寸図なども展示。今後は学生たちが演習で作った設計模型を展示するなど、教育・研究に活用するとともに広く一般に公開する予定です。

 

昭和44年に作られた同建物は和室もあり、南面には日本庭園が整備されています。デザインギャラリーはこうした住宅に触れる機会が少ない現代の学生たちの教材として活用されます。和室を実測し、庭園の剪定や石組みの演習を行う予定です。

 

Mukogawa Women's University has opened a new "Architectural Design Gallery" showcasing original tiles and roof tiles from the time of Koshien Kaikan's completion, as well as life-size drawings and models created by students. The gallery is housed in a renovated two-story reinforced concrete residence facing the main gate of the Kami-Koshien campus.

 

Since 2022, Koshien Kaikan has been undergoing a major renovation, including replacing the roof. All the tiles and ridge ornaments have been temporarily removed to the ground for inspection and replacement as needed. Given the scarcity of records from the time of construction, this large-scale renovation offers a valuable opportunity to examine the details and pass on the craftsmanship to the next generation. Architecture students have been learning about and documenting the design by creating life-size models of the ridge ornaments from Styrofoam and drawing full-scale plans.

 

The design gallery exhibits original tiles and roof tiles from the time of completion, as well as tiles, tile molds, plaster molds, models, and full-scale drawings of Koshien Kaikan created by students. In the future, it is planned to use the gallery for education and research by displaying design models created by students in exercises, and to open it to the public.

 

Built in 1969, the building also has a traditional Japanese room and a Japanese garden to the south. The design gallery will be used as a teaching tool for today's students who have few opportunities to experience such a residence. Plans include measuring the Japanese room and conducting exercises in pruning the garden and arranging stones.
