To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake on January 17th, an exhibition titled "30 Years since the Earthquake Exhibition" opened on January 10th at the Global Studio on the second floor of the Central Library. The exhibition, which will run until January 31st, features photographs of the library's damage from the earthquake and a collection of books on disaster prevention.
The purpose of this exhibition is to help active students, who may not be familiar with the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, understand the situation at that time, prevent the fading of memories, and encourage them to prepare for natural disasters that may occur in the future.
In the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake on January 17, 1995, many students, faculty, staff, and graduates of the University, which is based in Nishinomiya City, were affected by the disaster. The Central Library, which had just been completed at the time, suffered damage with bookshelves falling over and books scattered.
The exhibition displays five photographs of the library immediately after the earthquake and 30 books on disaster prevention. Additionally, there is a section titled "Let's share information and prepare ourselves for any future disasters," where visitors can write sticky notes about disaster prevention goods and precautions they take at home and share them with others. Furthermore, a video is being shown in the background, featuring photographs taken by staff members who experienced the earthquake firsthand, narrating the damage situation and the efforts of recovery.
Please note that the video is shown only during the 2nd and 3rd periods.
