＜日本語/English＞ 本学体操部 杉原愛子選手の東京オリンピック 出場報告会が開催されました。

Tokyo 2020 Olympics report of duty held with the MWU gymnastics club.

東京2020オリンピックに出場した体操部の杉原愛子選手（短期大学部健康・スポーツ学科2年）、大野和邦監督、五藤佳奈副部長の報告会が8月27日開催され、大河原量学院長、瀬口和義学長、山﨑彰副学長に競技結果や大会を振り返っての思いなどを報告しました。

 

　報告会では、まず、大河原学院長らが「お疲れ様でした。よく頑張りました。大会で杉原さんは選手団全員を盛り上げ、感心しました。おめでとうございます」と、大会での活躍をたたえました。

 

　はじめに、リオデジャネイロ大会に続く2大会連続の出場で、体操女子団体で5位入賞を果たした杉原選手が、「これまでたくさんの人に支えられ、サポートがあって今の自分があるからこそ、決勝の舞台には感謝の気持ちを忘れずに臨み、楽しんで、自分自身が納得できる演技ができました。大会ではメダル獲得を目標に、みんなで頑張ってきたので、悔しい思いはありますが、みんなが怪我なく無事に終えることができてよかったと思っています」と話しました。

 

　体操の日本代表コーチで参加した大野監督は「体操部監督に就任した時から東京オリンピック出場がテーマで、その実現に向け学院、大学で特別な支援をしていただいていることに感謝している。大会を通じて、これまで支えてくださった多くの人たちに感動を与え、共有できたことにほっとしている。日本代表チームは、みんながやれることをやりきったと思っている。この経験が、次の大会に向けて継続する人たちへの刺激になるものと思う。この経験を引き続き、武庫川女子大学体操部のさらなる強化につなげていきたい」と大会を振り返りました。

 

　審判員として参加した五藤副部長は「私がオリンピックに出られるのは、ふだんサポートしてくれるスタッフの皆さんや学院、大学の支援があるからと思っており、その感謝をもって、大会に参加した。審判としてこれまで何度か国際大会を経験したが、オリンピックは特別な舞台だと強く感じた。審判をする中で、今ここで輝いている選手たちを次の大会で、と考えた時、日本の体操をもっと盛り上げること、育成が大切だと感じた。この大会で学んだことを体操部で発揮して部員たちに貢献したい」と感想を述べました。

 

　報告会では、体操女子団体で5位入賞の成績を収め、関係者に深い感動と希望を与え、本学の名声を高めたとして、杉原選手に対して、武庫川学院80周年記念「夢と虹基金」から特別褒賞が授与されました。

 

　なお、女子シンクロ高飛込みで6位に入賞した水泳部の荒井祭里選手の報告会は、別の日に行われます。

 

Aiko Sugihara who recently participated in the Olympic Games was invited along with her coach, Kazukuni Ono and the deputy director Kana Goto, to a post Olympics game closing briefing with representative members of MWU.

 

At the meeting, the chairman of Mukogawa Women’s University, Mr. Ryo Okawara begun with words of congratulatory to Ms. Sugihara. He spoke of her accomplishment in her active role in the tournament.

 

It was the second Olympics games experience for Ms. Sugihara as she was selected in the team for Rio de Janneiro which saw her team placed in the 5^th position, overall. She stated “I was able to perform to the best of my ability, all thanks to the people who has supported me throughout. Although we were not able to achieve our goal of getting a medal at the games, I’m pleased with how we performed, especially without any injuries.”

 

Japan’s national team coach, Mr. Ono added “ever since I was appointed as the team coach, the Tokyo 2020 has been on our mind. We’ve had tremendous support from Mukogawa Women’s University and we’re grateful for the constant generosity. We feel at ease now, knowing that we were able to touch people’s hearts with our performance and share our journey. Through this experience, we hope to make the gymnastics team at Mukogawa Women’s university even more dominant than ever. We, as a national team, did all that we can and hope those who will continue on with us can learn and continue to prosper.”

 

The deputy head of Mukogawa Women’s University club, Ms. Goto who acted as an umpire at the games, noted “the reason why I was able to participate in the Olympics is due to the daily grind and support of those around me. As an umpire, I’ve had the privilege of taking part in a number of events as an umpire at national level, yet the Olympics is in its league of its own. I really felt the significance of making the Japan gymnastics more exciting and the need to nurture and grow future gymnasts. I’d like to continue playing my part in this role and contribute to the club of what I learned through this tournament.”

 

A reward for her performance at the Tokyo 2020 was given to Ms. Sugihara as she succeeded in 5^th place with the women’s gymnastics team.
