＜日本語/English＞東京オリンピックに出場し、女子シンクロ高飛込で６位入賞を果たした健康・スポーツ科学科３年荒井祭里さんが22日、西宮市の石井登志郎市長を表敬訪問しました。

Ms. Matsuri Arai, a third-year student in the Department of Health and Sports Science who competed in the Olympic Games, paid a courtesy call om the mayor of Nishinomiya city.

東京オリンピックで女子高飛込と女子シンクロ高飛込に出場し、女子シンクロ高飛込で６位入賞を果たした健康・スポーツ科学部健康・スポーツ科学科３年荒井祭里さんが22日、西宮市の石井登志郎市長を表敬訪問しました。

 

　荒井さんは18日に行われた日本選手権・女子10m高飛込で優勝し、5連覇を達成した直後だけに、多くのメディアが詰めかけました。オレンジ色のオリンピック日本代表公式ジャージ姿で市長と対面した荒井さんは、「オリンピックではメダルを狙っていたので悔しい結果でしたが、パリにつながるいい試合になりました」と、３年後のオリンピックに意欲を表明。石井市長は「西宮市と縁のある武庫川女子大学からのオリンピック出場は、宮っ子たちに勇気を与えてくれました。次の挑戦を応援します」と激励しました。

 

　石井市長から「西宮市でお気に入りの場所」を質問された荒井さんは「やっぱり大学ですね」と笑顔。「パリのその先にある目標は」と問われると「まだちゃんと決まっていないけれど、大学院に進んでしっかり勉強しながらパリを目指し、大学の教員になれるように頑張ります」と語っていました。

 

　歓談後、市長から記念品を贈呈され、市庁舎前の懸垂幕を見学しました。

 

On the 22nd of September, Ms. Arai who ranked 6^th overall in synchronized diving at the Olympics held in Tokyo, visited the mayor Toshiro Ishii.

 

The media has been keen on her and her journey ever since winning the Japan Women’s 10m High Dive Championship resulting to a 5^th straight victory for her. Sadly however, Ms. Matsuri wasn’t able to win any medals at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. She spoke of her experience “I’m disappointed that I didn’t get a medal since that was my goal. However, the competitions were a good lead up to the Paris Olympics.”

 

Mayor Ishii added, “Her participation in the Olympics Games has given hope to the people of Nishinomiya city. As a city that Mukogawa Women’s University is located in, we will continue to cheer her on for future competitions too.”  

 

After the meeting, the mayor presented her with a memento.
