A heartfelt message from MWU’s gymnast Aiko Sugihara at the Coming of Age ceremony in Higashi Osaka.

　東大阪市成人祭が１月10日、東大阪市花園ラグビー場で開催され、東京オリンピック体操女子団体で5位入賞を果たした体操部の杉原愛子さん（短期大学部健康・スポーツ学科2年）からの新成人への映像メッセージが放映されました。

 

　杉原さんは、同市出身で新成人と同世代のオリンピアンの一人として、メッセージを送ることになりました。

　映像は式典の最後に放映され、「2回目のオリンピックに出場し、女子団体で5位に入賞しました。東京オリンピックには、私一人の力ではなく、家族、コーチ、たくさんの人たちに支えられて出場できたので、感謝の気持ちでいっぱいです。みなさんも感謝の気持ちを忘れないでください」と、会場の新成人にメッセージを送りました。

 

　杉原さんは2020年の同市成人祭で、新成人を代表して誓いの言葉を述べ、「東京オリンピック出場に向け、日々練習に励んでいます。周りへの感謝を忘れず、目標・理想を追いかけ前進していきます」と抱負を語りました。

 

On the Coming of Age day on January 10^th, Olympian and a student of MWU Aiko Sugihara was broadcasted on the big screen of Higashi Osaka - Hanazono Rugby Stadium. A video of her pre-recorded message was played for the young adults celebrating the ceremonious event.

 

Ms. Sugihara, a resident of Higashi Osaka herself, gave an encouraging message to all the people welcoming the becoming of adulthood. In the video she quotes “In Tokyo 2020 Games, we were placed 5^th. We got this far thanks to all the love and support from our family, friends and coaches. What I’m trying to say is that I hope you can appreciate all the support system you have around you and that you’re not alone.”
