Reveling on the love for learning at Nikkei STEAM symposium.

English below.

The symposium was held at Osaka International Convention Center in Kita-ku, on July 28th. Up to 31 universities and high schools all across the nation joined forces in creating a platform for students to shine whether it be science, technology, engineering, art or mathematics.

The convention consisted of multiple of segments that included conference like presentations led by students, open discussion with female researchers, one time experience fairs and workshops.  In the summit, students from 16 high schools and universities from Japan as well as 5 from overseas with topics of discussion, stood in front of the audience to showcase their presentations.

Fish & Chips was the name of the team representing Mukogawa Women’s University, with the focus of “amplifying the magnitude of joy with the use of technology.” With so many competitors all ranging in ages and know-hows, the MWU team road to victory was dismissed in the qualifying rounds, yet it proved to be a good experience. The team stayed on until the award ceremony to cheer their rivals on in good spirits and showed support.

Throughout the day, students were seen walking, gathering information and receiving educational materials. While universities had booths with their representatives ready to demonstrate and deliver required information, poster panels were put up by a handful of high schools with the students presenting their findings on SDGs related matters.
