食物栄養学科の夏のプログラムが修了しました。

食物栄養科学部食物栄養学科の夏の留学プログラム「国際栄養学演習」が8月5日から8月29日までアメリカ分校で行われ、18人が参加しました。
国際栄養学演習は、世界的に評価の高いアメリカの管理栄養士の活躍する現場を間近に見てグローバルな視点を養おうと2009年度から始まり、夏季休暇中、希望者対象に実施しています。コロナ禍で3年間中断していましたが、今年、4年ぶりに再開しました。
学生はアメリカ分校のキャンパス内の寮で生活しながら約2週間、英語のプログラムを受講したあと、近隣の大学や小学校、病院やフードバンクを訪れ、各施設の食とのかかわりを学びました。
WIC(West Central Community Center)では、妊産婦・乳幼児へ支給される食品や管理栄養士の役割について管理栄養士から説明を受けました。また、アメリカ分校に隣接するSFCCのラーニングセンターでは、この施設での子どもたちへの食事の提供状況や食物アレルギー対応方法について管理栄養士から説明を受けるとともに、子どもたちへの食育の実施状況を見学。Second Harvest Inland Northwestでは、アメリカのフードバンクの説明を受けながら、倉庫や調理実習室を見学。フードバンク利用者と同じレシピでドレッシングを作り、サラダを食べる実習を行いました。Sacred Heart Medical Center、Holy Family Hospitalでは各病院の管理栄養士からアメリカの給食提供システムや管理栄養士業務について説明を受け、調理場やカフェテリア、病棟を見学しました。いずれの施設でも学生たちは真剣な様子で説明を聞き、管理栄養士等にアメリカの制度や管理栄養士業務について英語で質問して学びを深めました。
このほか、ワシントン州立大学スポケーン校 (WSU) の先生のセミナーを受講したり、研究室を訪問して説明を受けたり。Continuous Curriculum School(小学校)では、児童に日本の文化を伝え、食事とともにして異文化理解を深めました。
8月25日に行われた修了式では中原朗裕副学長から一人ひとり修了証書を受け取り、学生代表が英語でスピーチを行いました。
The Department of Food and Nutrition, College of Food and Nutrition Sciences, held a summer study abroad program, "International Nutrition Exercise," from August 5th to August 29th at the Mukogawa U.S Campus (MUSC), where 18 students participated in the program.
The International Nutrition Seminar started in the 2009 academic year in order to cultivate a global perspective by closely observing the activities of American dietitians, who are highly regarded around the world. Study abroad programs are held during the summer vacation while applicants stay at the school. The program was suspended for three years due to pandemic, but resumed this year for the first time in four years.
Students live in a dormitory on campus and attend an English program for two weeks, followed by the International Nutrition Seminar, a program unique to the department. This year, the students visited a nearby university, elementary school, hospital, and food bank to learn about each facility's relationship with food.
At the completion ceremony held on August 25th, each student received a certificate of completion from Vice President Akihiro Nakahara, and a student representative gave a speech in English.
